Hells Angels - Page 2

I don't really have an opinion either way on the overall intents of such groups. However, I had an experience just a couple of months ago in which I saw their very good side.

A soldier from our city was killed in Iraq, and his funeral was to be held at the Church. A group of religious extremists from another state got a permit to picket and protest the funeral, saying that since America supposedly supports homosexuality, anybody who dies for America also supports homosexuality. Of course, most reasonable people would find this ridiculous, especially since the soldier was a Latter-day Saint. They held signs that said things like "God hates fags" and "Thank God for dead soldiers." This was, of course, terrible, especially for the family of the deceased.

However, having found out in advance about the planned protest on the day of the funeral, over 50 bikers sat in a well-organized line, holding large American flags in front of the Church, across the street from the protestors. Every time the protestors would start to shout, all of the bikers revved their engines, and nobody could hear any of the hateful language. When they calmed down, the bikers sat silently until they started to speak again. Soon, the 15-minute protest permit expired, and the police escorted them away.

The bikers were dignified, upright, and respectful. They did not live up to the violent reputation of biker culture, and they did not stoop to the level of yelling and disrespecting the occasion like the people across the street who professed to be representing God. I was proud of them, and proud of our country for producing such fine people.

What a great story, but where these Bikers part of the Hell's Angels group or maybe some kind of distant affiliate? I would only have been thoroughly satisfied to actually see the Bikers and the protestors in one shot. Did anyone cover this story with a picture by chance?
