I like allot of goth type movies. My two favorites are The Crow and Underworld. The crow is an obvious goth movie with the leather and face paint and dim and dark scenery. The Crow is about someone who dies, and the crow that takes their spirit to the other side remains so that he can resurrect and take revenge. This is a great goth film for those looking to see movies from a goth view. Underworld is not a gothic as The Crow, but still classifies with its leather, dark aura, and general dismal vampire/werewolf war. Underworld is actually one of my favorite movies right along with its sequel. However, its sequel is not nearly as gothic as the first.

Comments: "based on GOTHs"?
based on some guys that look like Darkies or what?
There are a LOT of good gothic movies:
I just saw "The Haunting". Excellent.
It's Black and White, but is excellently filmed. It's SO goth.
Then "Gothic", 1985, I think. Brilliant, about Lord Byron who actually knew the psychologist of Mary Shelley, author of "Frankenstein", which has diffrent versions. Of course, I first saw the one with Robert de Niro. Surely, there are better ones.
I personally find "The Bounty" very gothic too, cuz it's old times. But NOT the one with Anthony Hopkins, the older one with Marlon Brando you GOTTA watch.
Well, "The Exorcist", "Rosemary's Baby", but they're more into satanism. I am a mega Goth, but I disapprove of satanism, I am a pagan and jew.
Many goths are also fond of the middle ages. I can recommend a lot the 80ies-series "Robin of Sherwood - The Hooded Man" which gives a lot of medieval insight as well as "Catweazle", which isn't "only" (...) for children.
"The House", 1989, is for me somewhat too modern.
In the Sherlock-Holmes-series of the Eighties, "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" with Jeremy Brett, is a LOT of gothic. Beside a lot of excellent English.
"Nosferatu", of course. And the lot of Dracula versions that exist. I love the with Klaus Kinski. There are two major modern versions, the known one, 1992, and "The True Story of Dracula". AND there's another particular version, lemme think... AH YES! The parody, "The Fearless Vampire Killers", directed by none other than Roman Polanski. SO funny and deepo, at the same time. THIS movie is ALWAYS totally symbolistic, metaphoric.
I'll post here again when I got the energy to crawl thru the dungeons of my brainparts that store movienames of gothic movies...
You MUST see "The Others", Brilliant OHH SO gothic story, a book exists too, I think.
so, latina, whereever you come from, I wish you a good gothic development.

Comments: a great goth movie would have to be "Queen of the Damned" its a great classic vampire movie with a lot of awesome music its a must see film... at least once.

Comments: I wonder if anyone realises that "The Matrix" is Gothic, as it is very based on Horror and Romance, typical traits in any Gothic Novel, as well very thought provoking ideas and fantasy based story line. Ironically it is one of the most popular series of films to date among the youth. I think half of them would blow a fuse if you told them "it's Gothic" .
Another Great Gothic Movie would have to be "Mary Shelleys Frankenstein" as it actually is based on Mary Shelleys original Gothic Novel.
Then of course, there's "Blade", "Gothika", "Silent Hill", "Dead Silence", "Underworld", "Terminator", "Pan's Labyrinth" and recently "Twilight". Some of them are stereotypically obvious, others like "Terminator" you may offend quite a few people if you called it Gothic, but that's what it is.
If you have seen a few of these movies, their is a definate link between Horror and Romance, which in a nutshell, sums up the Gothic genre in film and books. And each one is quite distinctive and are very much story driven pieces rather than the more conventional "Slasher Horror" movies you get like "Saw" for example (even though I think Jigsaw is a really dimensioned character)

Comments: If you haven't seen it already, "MirrorMask" is a really good movie. It is a bit more out there than the ones previously mentioned. It does the light and dark thing very well and involves the main character dealing with the dark side of her psyche by going on a quest in a fantasy world that is based on her art. I just have to say "Wow". It is an independent film also, which is a plus for some and a negative for others.

Comments: The best goth based movie is "Gypsy 83" on my opinion.

Comments: I am so happy Gypsy 83 was mentioned. It's about a pair of goth best friends, from pretty much Nowhere, Ohio. They go on a "find yourself" journey to New York, and it's just a really fantastic movie. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but if you like goths and 90's goth fashion, Stevie Nicks, and coming of age movies... Go for it.

Comments: I dont see how you can classify leather and all that under goth, so basically anyone who wears leather is goth? I don't think so. Gothic is more oldschool movies, I do have to agree though that the Crow is favored by goths, isn't gothic, but favored by goths. Goths favor older movies, Sweeney Todd, is a movie that goths favor. Tim Burton movies are usually a favorite among goths. So if you want to watch some goth movies, watch any one of Tim Burton's films, Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, 9, nightmare before Christmas and such. Dont listen to those who thinks movies involving leather are gothic movies. For one, goth is a lifestyle and was actually a race of people before it went into the music business foray, so yeah. hopefully that helps.
