REDMOND, Wash. (AP) - Microsoft released three security bulletins Tuesday to fix flaws that could let an attacker take complete control over a computer system. The "critical" security flaws, the company's highest threat level, affect Microsoft's Windows operating system.

MacCentral - Apple on Monday released a security update for Mac OS X, updating several of the components and technologies in the operating system. Specifically the update affects AppKit, BlueTooth, CoreFoundation, cups, Directory Services, HIToolBox, Kerberos, loginwindow, Mail, OpenSSL, QuartzComposerScreenSaver, Security Interface, Safari, X11 and zlib.

Meanwhile, I just saw when I opened up my mail that AOL Instant Messenger is experiencing worm-like virii that come in the form of a link to click on. I don't know if anyone else uses AIM Messenger, but I do and consider myself one of those semi-computer illiterate folks. I don't click on a darn thing, though. My salvation?

Take note of the expected attack from the Sober worm on the above date and get your computer protected ahead of time:
Computer users and system administrators, take note. According to iDefense, a division of VeriSign (Nasdaq: VRSN - news), on January 6, 2006, the world will see the release of a new version of the Sober worm. Security analysts hope that, at least in this instance, being forewarned can lead to being forearmed, and that computer users will take the time before the attack to update their security software.
