This is a great comedy film, perfect for any tabletop gamer. Full of references and jokes about a typical players vs Game Master scenario, I recommend it for all role players.
It's even available online for free thanks to Dead Gentlemen Productions asking for donations rather than enforcing a payment system. A unique setup for sure, but one that works well with their many Kickstarter projects.
I really enjoyed this film! They are playing Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 I believe, and ICon is right about the player versus GM references as well as the different kinds of "Problem players" like the power gamer/rules lawyer who insists on playing a monk when the world that the GM created doesn't include monks, or questions the GM when a cleric character loses his powers insisting that it's not in the book so the GM can't do it.
I wish I could remember the prequal to this movie because it explored other things like the absent player whose character just sort of hangs around but doesn't do anything until the player shows up, but goes back to being in the background when the player has to leave again; or the fighter with a high strength score rolling low and not being able to force open a gate while the thief with a low strength score makes a lucky roll and opens the door with ease.
I think I'll go back and watch it again for fun!
