Afraid To Say... Merry Christmas - Page 2

If the majority of folks I am with is Christian, I will say "Merry Christmas"; however, I have friends and coworkers who are Buddhist and other faiths, and I wish them a simple "Happy Holidays!" because, Christian or not, the holiday is recognized by the government and we all get a little vacation. ;D

Christmas Merry Say Afraid

QUOTE
However, if you were working amongst peers that are Muslims or Jews or even Atheist, would you still wish them a Merry Christmas?

Absolutely! I am a Christian, and I do not apologize for it, neither do I hide or downplay that fact. It has been my experience that Jews, Atheists, Jehovah Witness's, African American's, Native American's, etc. do not hold back in wishing me what ever holiday they are celebrating at the time. They also don't change what it is called so that it is Politically Correct either. I also do not take umbrage when they wish me good tidings.

In my faith, we have the Articles of Faith. The 11th one states: We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

To me this not only includes religious holidays, but any other event that a race, religion, nationality, etc. celebrates.

Afraid To Say... Merry Christmas Christmas

It really depends on my mood, not who I'm talking too. I think that the time of year should be merry and festive whether your christian or not. I'm not, but I celebrate it and will say Merry Christmas to most people I come across. If I sense that they may be offended by Merry Christmas, I may say Happy Holidays. Happy Holidays covers all three holidays this time of year, so I say it frequently too, but not as often as Merry Christmas.

I think that it is best to wish a Merry Christmas season to people… The Christmas season is a season that can be celebrated for its nature. A person doesn't have to be religious to still enjoy it for what it is worth…
