I don't like much arguing over the culture war issues in America, and think most people, religious or otherwise, tend to be more moderate than what the media makes things out to be regarding abortion. I think abortion is terrible and we should avoid it, yet what about cases like ectopic pregnancy that threaten to kill both the mother and the fetus? Wouldn't it be good to save the mother's life even though it is tragic to induce an abortion in cases like these, rather than to lose both? It may be true that our body isn't ours, but belongs to God, and that we shouldn't pursue autonomy as an idol, but neither should we unduly seek to suppress or control other people through a lack of nuance over these issues.
