Sabbath Day / Special Day

Most religions have a special day of the week in which they give 'extra' attention to their spiritual lives - what day is that for you?

Day Special Day Sabbath

Sabbath for me in Sunday and we rest of all our labors this day. It's the day for the Lord, to worship him and honour him. It's a day that we are not supposed to do anything that will drives us away from the Spirit of the Lord.

Day Special Day Sabbath

I believe that was Friday evening to Saturday evening. At present I keep Sunday as the day for Sabbath out of remembrance of the day He (Jesus) rose again.

Growing up, Sunday was the Sabbath, but that is not really the correct christian sabbath. The sabbath was held on saturday until constantine made christianity the official religion of Rome. He changed the Sabbath to sunday because he said that was when christ rose from the grave, sunday morning. However, we don't really recognize the sabbath today the way it was intended. In fact, the ancient israelites did not even allow animals to work on the sabbath. All food had to be cooked on the day before and eventually, the jewish Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon helped create strick rules for what could and couldn't be done on the sabbath. You were not even allowed to lift something heavier than a fig because it was carrying a burden.

Sabbath Day / Special Day

As I mentioned in a previous post on another topic, I grew up in a home with Seventh Day Adventists, and their Sabbath was Saturday. Most other sects of Christianity use Sunday as the Sabbath, but SDA members use the story of creation as the basis for implementing Saturday. Saturday is the 7th day of the week, and God rested on this day, and hallowed it.
Now, I am not saying this is wrong or right. In fact, while I lived in Trinidad, other members of my household were Presbyterian, and they worship on Sunday, so I ended up going to church all weekend (which as a kid was tough, let me tell you). I can see both arguments, and in my opinion, what day of the week you decide to get closer to your Lord and Savior should not matter. I respect all sects of Christianity, and if they choose different days, for different reasons, if those reasons can be justified, then that is fine with me.
