Yeah I think both of that are the factor for someone become Gay, but I personally categorize them in two type, one because love, simply they unfortunately fall in love with someone that was in the same gender, due to reasons, and another because lust, which I believe more due to genetic defect that make them have sexual fetish or preference with same gender.
I have to wonder how many people posting to this thread are gay themselves, or have ever really talked to someone who is.
I have never known a gay person to say it was something they chose; they all describe the awakening of their sexuality the same way straight people do. Is being *straight* a choice? I don't remember choosing to be straight, but I am. Why assume being gay is any different?
It's important to recognize that social media can influence people's perceptions and beliefs about various aspects of life, including sexual orientation. However, it's crucial to understand that being gay is not something that can be forced or influenced by external factors like social media. Sexual orientation is a deeply personal aspect of identity that is determined by a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and environmental factors. While social media can provide exposure to diverse perspectives and experiences, it cannot "Force" someone to be gay. It's essential to approach discussions about sexual orientation with empathy, respect, and an understanding of the complexity of human identity.
Sexual choice and self-perception are apparently different situations. A sexual choice is, as the name suggests, a decision that is made (Apparently) actively. However, there is always a greater or lesser influence of the environment and experience when making this decision, so in reality we do not really control automatically what we decide. When we talk about self-perception we are dealing with the way we see ourselves, and this is something that is even more beyond our control.
However, both aspects have great weight in the sexual orientation of each individual and to a large extent do not depend on our will. Therefore, in my opinion, it is a matter that initially escapes our power of decision, which is why I would qualify it as innate.
A separate discussion would be whether sexual self-perception can be wrong (It's politically incorrect to think that it is in today's society, which does that doesn't mean it's true).
