Mine was an aesthetic experience, not a religious one. The Book of Mormon gripped me in the same way Herman Melville’s "Moby-Dick" and Harriet Beecher Stowe’s "Dred" had years earlier. I’m a sucker for books that go against the grain, and the Book of Mormon went against just about every grain I knew. Source 6o.
Yeah I used to be Mormon. I left when I turned 18 and moved out on my own. I haven't stepped into a church since then. I have nothing against Mormons in general. I always say to each their own. But after leaving and looking at them from the outside, it just doesn't make sense to me. All of their strange rules and customs all they made sense to me while I was part of the church now are just nonsense.
