Comments: This might be like a totally dumb question but is anime and magna the same thing or just different versions?

They are for the most part the same... But manga consist of comics and print cartoons made in Japan while anime is the animated movies and televition series in Japan.
They are like two sides of the same coin. Most of Japan's most popular series are in both manga and anime form. For example Yu-Gi-Oh, everyone knows the tv series (anime) but few have read the comic books (manga) it was origionally based on.

Manga are comic and anime are cartoon, story wise most of the time are similar but there some exception even to the point of the art itself can be entirely different.
