Which medium (oil, watercolor, pencil, pastel, charcoal, etc.) do you like the most for your art? I personally love to work with watercolors simply because they are very easy to handle. However, for effect oil on black velvet is a delight.
While I don't do it much anymore, I used to create pictures all the time until I had kids. My favorite medium is chalk. You can easily blend chalk and fade the dividing lines between colors. Things like feathers and sunsets come out so well because the line between colors can be faded so much easier than other mediums. With the holding sprays today, chalk artwork can last along time on the right paper, but obviously, chalk can be used any where and on many surfaces. The other good thing about chalk is that you can make temporary art work any where from you paper pad, to the drive way out side if you chose. You can always just wash it off. I find that the benefit of chalk is discovered most when using many bright colors in which you can "blur" your colors easily.
