There was a barrier but you know how toddlers are, he was able to sneak around. I think the big responsibility are on the parents who were NOT supervising the baby. It is beyond me when I see parents showing little or no concern at all at the safety of their own flesh.
Yes there was a barrier but the barrier was not in my opinion properly placed all the way around the ride if a toddler was able to walk around it and get into the ride area. Yes I hold the parents just as responsible for not properly supervising their young child.
When I read this story, my heart sank. I am glad the girl is alive, I hope she makes a full recovery. However, I find a little disturbing that parents would allow their 12 year old daughter in such dangerous ride since participants were dropped more than 100 feet into a net with no bungee cord or other tether!
The part that stood out on this story is the mechanics of the ride had not been replaced over 8 years and had become rusted to the point that certain parts could not move. Makes you wonder just how safe you are when you put yourself in the hands of others.
I want to believe this roller coaster was one of those for toddlers and this is to prove that those sort of rides are not suitable for young children. How sad.
