I am happy that they are starting to find SOME possible causes for SIDS. It must be absolutely horrible to go through, worse than another type of death. SIDS leaves open the possibility that the parents didn't do something right or that it could some how be their fault. If it was a defect, then there is nothing else that could have been done.

Blood of SIDS infants contains high levels of serotonin. Blood samples from infants who died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) had high levels of serotonin, a chemical that carries signals along and between nerves, according to a study. The finding raises the possibility that a test could be developed to distinguish SIDS cases from other causes of sleep-related, unexpected infant death. Source 7m.
