Colombia, long known as little more than the world's kidnapping capital and home to Latin America's longest-running guerrilla war, is attracting tourists at record numbers because of better security.

It really just depends on which parts of Colombia you go to, the government and locals recommend to not go by the southern areas where most of gang/mafia/drug related war happens along with kidnapping. Other than that, there are many areas that are considered safe to tourists.
