Korean people are outgoing, hard working (industrious), hard drinking, humorous people with a strong sense of nationalism. They do maintain many old traditions such as the Korean dress, Korean New Years Celebrations, kimichi and burial/death ceremonies. However, the also are rich in arts that are practiced worldwide. One writer called the Koreans the Irish of Asia. I am Irish, married a Korean woman and couldnt agree more.
It is one of the few places in Asia where you will have strangers come up to you and just want to practice their english skills.
The east side is where the majority of the industial areas are located and the west side is where the abundance of agricultural land is found. S. Korea is also the most internet savy country in the world.
Prodigy? That's a good description
When a child turns 1 in a Korean household, it's customary for the parents to summon the Fates for guidance. They place around the room toys that are suggestive of certain futures. A pencil for a scholar. A needle and thread for long life. A knife for a cook. Ref. Source 9

• The present United Nations Secretary General was born in this country
• The 2000 Nobel Prize for Peace was won by someone from this country (Called Kim Dae Jung).
