Industry 4.0 in real time
With data transfer rates of 10 gigabits a second and a latency of just one millisecond, the 5G wireless communications standard is creating the conditions required for the tactile internet. This in turn will open up the door to new industry, transportation and medical applications. Researchers work on the underlying technology and have developed practical concepts to solve one of the most challenging problems - high-speed low-latency data transfer that is also entirely reliable. With many places still not offering reliable 4g networking there is going to be a bigger set of people wanting this 5g and they will not be able to get it unless in a major city. Out here in the sticks and in other places around the country you will be lucky to still have 3g if any at all. It seems those are the places you could really use the 4 and 5g networks.
