Eating peanut in early years helps reduce risk of allergy even with later abstinence, study suggests
The early introduction of peanut to the diets of infants at high-risk of developing peanut allergy significantly reduces the risk of peanut allergy until 6 years of age, even if they stop eating peanut around the age of five, according to a new study. Ref. Source 5v.
I've always said that these allergies stem from a lack of introduction during the early years but I'm no doctor so can't say its always the case. Glad that science is coming to the rescue to backup my thoughts on it.
Food allergies linked to childhood anxiety. Researchers studied the link between food allergy and childhood anxiety and depression among a sample of predominantly low socioeconomic status minority children and found that children with a food allergy had a significantly higher prevalence of childhood anxiety. Food allergies were not associated with symptoms of childhood depression or with symptoms of anxiety or depression among their caregivers. Source 4f.
Kids persistently allergic to cow's milk are smaller than peers with nut allergies. Children who experience persistent allergies to cow's milk may remain shorter and lighter throughout pre-adolescence when compared with children who are allergic to peanuts or tree nuts, according to a retrospective chart review.
