Oh yes to make all mothers feel comfortable about thier choice to breast feed or not is the main thing. Keeping others from harassing or putting down those that do not do things the way they did or the way they feel is best for the child is wrong. We need mothers to be less stressed out when dealing with new borns not more stressed because they feel they are doing something wrong.
Agreed, and although I understand urging mothers to breastfeed is the right course, even mothers who decide not to for personal reasons should not be shamed. These are decisions about one's body and should be strictly up to the mother to make. Well, with some input from the dad *smile*.
Breastfeeding reduces hypertension risk. A new study indicates that women who breastfeed more children, and for longer periods of time, are less likely to suffer from hypertension after they reach menopause. This is less true of obese women, however. Source 5g.
