Germany Racism
Is there a lot of Racism** in Germany? What is being done about those who manifest racial prejudice against others?
Definition: Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. -- Oxford Dictionary
So here is the problem as compared to the US. Assimilation in Germany is nearly impossible because they are 95% Herman there. Plus, although the Germans welcome them as asylum seeking immigrants, they never view them as German. And this goes for their children and children's children, right on down the line. One only needs to ask the ethnic Turks in Germany, who are German citizens many born there, how they are treated.
Compare that to the US. We are a nation of immigrants. We are alike in our differences. Have an accent, no problem since the folks from the north have an accent to the people from the south, and vice Versace, but we're still Americans. Different color skin, yeah so does the guy I work next to, live next to, or served with in the military. From another country, so we're my parents, grandparents, great grandparents, or someone in your family tree. But we're all Americans.
Is it perfect… nope, nothing is. Are there those who have prejudices… yup, but we try to compensate with our laws. But thanks to the fact that there really isn't an single American ethnicity that is the majority people tend to assimilate here, and if not first generation than second generation almost always. That is one of our strengths.
