Texas is a friendly state, at least it was to me. The signs I remember along the road say Drive Texas Friendly… and I understand what that means. Unlike other places in this hectic world in which we live, people actually slow down and move over for you on Texas roads. Where I live in Virginia, people would rather get in an accident than let a car get in front of them.
And it goes deeper than that, walk into a store in Texas and you get a Howdy. Now, they don't know you from Adam. They don't know if you are a Texan or a Yankee from Maine. But you get the same Howdy. I think it has to do with their independent nature, they figure you are there, you are living the same life they chose, you are worthy of a second of their time and a word of welcome.
Yup, Virginia is just a pit stop on my journey through life. When the time comes for me settle down. Texas is on my short list.
