In major Urban areas I find water costs are sky rocketing but yet few people are even aware of how they use their water. I my self am guilt as I need to change two toilets they are low flush but of poor quality and are in need of repairs. Having 3 boys in the house we have even considered installing a urinal to help reduce wasted water.
My list of need to change are:
Two stage toilets
Install a cistern for watering garden
Front loader washer

Nothing can waste water faster than a simple leak. A drip leak is worst than leaving a tap on full for an extra 4 minutes. Leaks are unchecked and accumulate day after day - main key is to attack them as they happen and your water consumption will be amazingly reduced.
A small drip from a faucet can waste up to 50 gallons of water daily, which is enough water to run a dishwasher twice on a full cycle.
