Is your home harming you? New research highlights deadly effects of indoor pollution
Indoor pollution from smoke, building materials and spores kills millions each year, say researchers. New work offers insight into ‘Sick Building Syndrome’ and how new smart cities could help combat air quality issues. Lack of real-time air pollution data hinders simple safety precautions that could improve health and wellbeing, say authors. Ref. Source 9a.
Sick Building Syndrome is a very serious issue. As an architect we know many things about it and how to counter it. Passive and active measurements are taken into account. Passive may include soundproofing, adequate natural ventilation, specific colours and materials. Active measurements include air/water filters, condensers, etc. It is a very complex thing and constantly in development. In the long run, these costs are outperform if we get the people sick (Both mentally and physically).
