Comments: The whole concept of the Matrix existed long before Warner Bros invested in it. There has been many books written and similar films made that closely resemble the whole Matrix idea. The way the film is made allows you to get out of it what you want to see while putting in some cool fighting scenes to keep you indulged. Subtley the Matrix deals with religion, politics and culture - the way we perceive all of them, but if you are just there to see Neo's moves then you'll pass all of that.
Definitely some good takes on it. Cool to see people with PhDs talking about something like the Matrix trilogy and interpreting it as though it was something real.
For me its definitely needed because the movie has more depth to it than simply computers and fighting. The movie is actually based on philosophy which in itself is a study.
Wow the explanation here is totally deep. Where do you guys come up with all this stuff for just a movie? Did the Wachowskis really think up all this when they made the movie I mean did they like really want us to go deep with it?
There is a lot of controversy surrounding who came up with the root of the story but regardless to who did it I find the trilogy a work of art. It speaks to a lot of what we experience in life: illusions with hidden meanings and purposes for things. The explanation given in this Thread is one of many but if you have a take on it feel free to add it.
