$1000 hospital registration fee for ch

This might sound like a dumb question but is there such a thing in Trinidad as a hospital registration fee that women who are giving birth have to pay up front?

I never heard of it before...are you talking about public hospitals? If so, I doubt it, because most of the people who go to public hospitals is because they cannot afford the high fees of private institutions so...definetly they will not be able to pay $1000 as a registration fee! where did you get the info from? where are you from by the way? smile.gif

Wow.  Thanks for the quick response.  I think a "friend" was trying to scam me out of some money when he asked me to borrow $500 to send to his pregnant girlfriend in Trinidad who is almost due to cover half of this "hospital registration" fee so she could be admitted to have the baby.  I refused but thought I would try and find out if such a thing really existed in Trinidad & Tobago as riduculous as it sounds.  I'm on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.  I was born in San Fernando but my family moved before I could remember.

I have never heard of that before, but I must say one thing... if it is a government hospital then it is all free as far as I know, if it is a private hospital then it can be from $2,500 to $3,000.
