So very true. I think most RPgers come here looking for a quick fix and to start playing. They see the site as RPG based instead of Intellectual Discussion based. The 30 post requirement really helps to weed those who think like that out of the system, unfortunately it seems that the percentage of serious RPGers who can also handle discussion is very low, which in itself does not make sense since our RPGs are all text based, so you would basically already have a love for writing. Maybe that is it, maybe they think that our RPGs are not text Based. Others who do not stay end up letting their activity level fall so low that it would honestly take a real drive to pick it up.

I was led to believe that "MYSPACE.COM" was supposed to be the best place to post and meet people all over the world. But it never lived up to my expectations. All I got in my email was internet pornography.

I will never forget the day that I received an invitation from LDS to join the forum. I was a bit hesitant at first but decided to give it a try. Ever since that day, I never looked back. Immediately, I noticed that there was something here for everyone! And I truly appreciate that! Some of the topics are fun and others are very profound. It is also fascinating that emphasis is placed on the use of good English grammar. I have never been in any online group where they focus on "quality" over quantity. This has been a unique experience for me and I am enjoying myself thoroughly. Thanks LDS for inviting me to this forum!

You are right on the money I also participate in a second rpg which is just that but even there you seen them come and there is no flash bang boom as it is a text based game and they stay for a week at best and are gone. There is maybe 10 or 20 like me that are 2 plus years there. It is the friendships and rp that keeps me there.

I only mentioned all of this as I see the same patterns here and think that many do not understand the sense of belonging or being dedicated to something even when it gets slow or seems repetitive.

I ended up here looking for a straight rpg text style that was not just hit kill. But it was the discussion boards that convinced me to upgrade and stay.

I must confess that initially this forum seemed to be different from all the other forums I've been to in a long time. And believe me, I'm on the net atleast 8-10 hours everyday, so I know what I'm talking about. Everyone seemed to stress so much on quality of the posts it was really surprising..

But, after being here for a while, I can now see the result of that. A forum where each and every post is worth reading. All the members have their opinions which is based on facts and the criticism is constructive.

I just love it here..

That is the main goal of this place and it is good that as a relatively 'young' Member you have come to realize that. This place seeks not to be like everyone else, but very unique and enlightening. Most say that is the reason they stay - lots to learn.

I guess I've been around long enough to answer. I enjoy the intellectual discourse, and the discussion of LDS doctrine. And, after a while, I grew to enjoy the RPG - especially that which had a story line, e.g., Medieval.

Same as some of the other answers - the intelligent discussion, as well as some obscure or very recent topics being mentioned that I didn't even know anything about, so sort of a "keeping up with the news" reason there.

I initially came here for the RPG portion, more so the posting about and related to RPG, rather than joining a game, but also other threads; I make sometimes perhaps too long posts or go off on a tangent, sort of perpendicular to the point or miss it and mistake something else for another element of the discussion, but generally I think I'm relevant, if longwinded (on other places, I've been dubbed "TLDR;" for Too Long, Didn't Read, the universal internet slight indicating someone has glossed over or even just scrolled past what you wrote because it was simply too long - I see from this community that in general, those people are pretty short-sighted or the slant of my take on the topic was just easily discernible as not something they wanted to read all the way through.

But as I was saying earlier, I've recently been a bit more involved in the RPG section, and in a game run by another player, which is my usual method of playing RPGs anymore, as the only nearby friend I have left only really runs or accommodates me running a game infrequently.
