Title: Power, wisdom, and mercy
Comments: The first verse speaks of God's power. He uses his power to guide us and shape us with trials. I imagine a blacksmith shaping the parts he needs and the process he must go through. I think he must be and feel very powerful in a sense because of the great changes he is able to make on the metal.
The second verse speaks of God's wisdom. He knows to teach us when we are young. He knows what times in our life we will be most pliable and teachable. He also knows that the best way for us to learn is through trials and service.
The third verse speaks of God's mercy. He loves us. He will comfort is through hard times. His spirit will teach us gently and be with us while we go through life.
This song is beautifully written. It feels poetic and yet every word is powerful.
To sum it up God has the power to shape us by sending us through fiery trials, the wisdom to know how and when we will best learn from them, and the mercy to be able to pour His love into our souls when we need Him most.
