We created a singles site so LDS couples could meet online, but we have since toned it down to Discussion: LDS Singles Did you know we met online? Keep reading...
My wife and I met through the internet in a chat room that used to operate out of BYU, Utah called, "Y-Chat".
In those days the chat was moderated by BYU students and a lot of LDS members would come to chat. I logged on by the nick name of "JB" And my wife (A fellow chatter then) used to come on as "Sol". I initially thought she was someone from Brazil that I had previously chatted with, but she introduced herself and said she was from Argentina.
Theses online meetings began on the 13th February, 1998 some years ago and we began to e-mail each other with our "Stats" (Information concerning our background, where we live, etc.) In those days I started web designing, but my page was very plain and had only a few visitors (Nothing like it is now). As time went on we called each other on the phone and wrote letters.
By October, 1998 I found myself in Argentina and I gave her a ring with twenty-three small diamonds as the engagement ring (She was age 23) and she accepted officially although I had previously proposed to her over the net (Crazy huh?).
Originally the plan was that we would be married in November, 1998, but things did not work out as planned and we were eventually married on the 19th February, 1999 at the Washington Temple. It was a special time and we both knew it was the right decision. My wife said that my face shone brightly and with light after the sealer pronounced us married for all time and eternity.
Our honeymoon took us from Maryland to Palmyra, New York where we visited the Sacred Grove and other historical sites. In the setting of the Grove we were alone that day because it was cold and we took the opportunity to kneel and give thanks for the miraculous way in which we met and were finally made one.
On the 4th April, 2000 we had our first son, Felipe Matthew and now our love for each other has grown even greater. My wife was so excited about the event of our son that she created a web site called, 'Baby, Baby, Baby' a month or so before the actual birth. In celebration of our love for each other we also recently created the 'Romance' site. We hope this site can be a haven for many 'relationships' over the net.
Would we recommend it ? Not really, because you just can never know. We did it because of sincere prayer and faith and other things that are unique to us. Not everyone is the same.
A Profile for You
Would you like your very own profile on the net? Maybe something talking about yourself, your goals and what you would like to accomplish?
