Brightburn (Hover)
Without seeing much of the trailer I started watching the movie and was surprised to see the similarities to an anti-Superman. I guess this is what happens if Superman came to this earth with bad intentions instead of good. In the real Superman story Kal-el does actually fight against his father for direction but in Brightburn the forces from beyond are greater than the young one can handle.
DC animation did a movie called Superman: Red Son. The premise was that Kal-El's ship crash landed in Russia and he was raised without the Kent's influences. However, being an animated movie targeted at young audiences, it was much tamer than the violence depicted in Brightburn.
True but your review seems to be more about the animation and less about Brightburn other than saying it was more violent than the former. Brightburn is actually different [than] the animation in that the child does have good parents but the influence of his 'real' father or creator is greater than a Jor-El to Kal-El relationship.
