Xii Pius Pope
Pope Pius XII was the pope who was nearly silent during the holocaust in Germany. He said something small regarding their superstitious beliefs regarding race and blood, but other than that, he remained silent. In a point in history when he could have made a difference, he didn't. In fact, Hitler was for Papal absolutism which has led many to believe that Pope Pius XII was key in the rise of Hitler be being silent and even promoting him in public, especially during the point when Hitler was claiming Papal authority. The pope that followed him immediately spoke against the Italian and German dictatorships and the crimes they had committed.
