Officials in Orange County, California, voted unanimously last week to dedicate Aug. 24 to the 18-time All-Star who died in January in a helicopter crash. The date was chosen for the two jersey numbers Bryant wore during his 20-year career with the Lakers: No. 8 and 24. It's also a day after his birthday; he would have been 42 this year. Ref. USAToday.
