Nintendo is a great company, overall I would rate the company a 7. Only because of it's lack of game selection am I giving it this low of a rating. This company even after being in the buisness over 20 years still hasn't reallized some of it's past users have grown a little. we need a better selection that includes non-kiddie animation.
When I first started playing games, I had a Sega Gensis… but always wanted to have a Super Nintendo. When the new systems came and crushed the rest to dust, I went out and got a Nintendo 64. Best choice I ever did. I love the games on it and my favorites are still on there to this day: Duke Nukem 64, Mario, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time AND Majora's Mask (Don't really care much for anyone's opinion on it, I still think it was an awesome game), Conker's Bad Fur Day (Which was the only reason I bought an XBox), Starfox 64, Mario Party 1 2 3 and 4, and many more I can't think of right now. It was an amazing Console.
The graphics were alright for it's time, but I wasn't bothered by that. I was more into the gameplay and storymodes, and when I wasn't into that, I was looking for things to kill and places to blow up. And the Nintendo had all that and more. I loved the music for Legend of Zelda, but I still think the Super Nintendo version (Link to the Past) was byfar the best Zelda game ever.
My brother and I were and still are big fans of Nintendo and their consoles. We have ventured and found ourselves a Gamecube, two Original Nintendo Consoles and some games (Hurray for Duck Hunt), a working Super Nintendo Console and games, and two 64's with games. So, I think it's safe to safe… I love Nintendo!

Nintendo cuts profit, 3DS not ready for Christmas
Nintendo slashed its earnings forecast by more than half Wednesday after announcing that its 3DS game machine, packed with glasses-free 3-D technology, won't be ready to go on sale for Christmas. Ref. Source 5
I agree with this last post. The issue with Nintendo is that if you are not part of a gaming family then the selection of games are feeble compared to the two leading giants. I cant actually think of a single player game for the wii that doesn't have a better alternative on one of the other consoles.
The Wii 2 or whatever it will be called should go back down the route of the single family member with online enabled play. And perhaps put some money into the graphics engine this time round.
Nintendo was first establish in 1889 and they started out making special playing cards.
