A whopping 92 percent of Americans say they believe in God or a universal spirit, and a vast majority say they believe in an afterlife and heaven, according to a 2008 survey by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

Future Have God Does

I am embarrassed to say I am one of those who has spoken out against organized religion. Though like was stated, I do believe in God and an afterlife. I have gotten carried away in this view and on further analyzing this, do not think it is my place to discount anyone else's beliefs.

I think what is happening is many Americans are seeing the violence and hatred that some pockets of these religions have. Myself personally would rather people take responsibility for their own actions instead of claiming it is God who has "told" them it is their duty to commit a violent act. Or to encourage hatred in oneself and others for a particular people.

As many of the important questions are being debated it seems the temperature is rising between sides. As these different views clash more and more people are becoming frustrated in general with the whole thing I think. For example: If you feel you have to kill, hurt, or threaten someone because they don't believe what you do. This may be what is turning people off to organized religion. Most people see this type of activity as counter productive to the growth of the spirit, whether or not they say so at the moment it is happening. In my opinion it is something you can feel within you as wrong.

Does God Have A Future? Beliefs Religious General

Christmas has been a good example of how people treat religionb its just a matter of convenience.

international QUOTE
Their attitude could be summed up as "So what?"

"The real dirty little secret of religiosity in America is that there are so many people for whom spiritual interest, thinking about ultimate questions, is minimal," says Mark Silk, professor of religion and public life at Trinity College, Hartford, Conn. Ref. Source 8

I can hardly blame anyone for leaving their faith. The more you study the various religions and their history the more you can see the lies they propagate and literally sell to others who need something to fulfill their lives.
