Finishing off the last of the free food, I dump the plate, grab a final soda to drink on the way, and head out the door. I take a moment to admire the replica of Rodin's [u]The Kiss[/b] (the marble version, not the bronze), that is set in a niche off the foyer. Once again, I salute my cousin for his excellent taste in sculpture. And, once again, I sigh with sorrow that none of my work has the simple elegance of the Rodin.
As I step outside, I notice that most of the fancy limos and sports cars have left. There is a Bentley off to the side, that looks to be from the 1940's. Wow! It must cost a fortune to keep that thing running.
There is my pickup, way in the back. As I walk over to it, I see Kim get into a nice little import job. It looks like it is a few years old, but does appear to be in excellent condition. I wave, but she doesn't seem to notice me. Oh well. Can't win them all. And, I guess I was a bit brusque with her at times this evening. I hope I didn't hurt her feelings.
As I climb into the pickup, I realize I didn't see Callie there at the end. I try to remember if I gave her my number so she can call me about my cousin. Hey, maybe she will call me because she is interested in me! Right. I could tell that none of the women in this group would be interested in a (slightly) overweight working stiff.
Oh, well, back to work tomorrow. Maybe I'll skip the ballgame this weekend to work on that statue out in the workshop....
Fritz looks around as everyone leaves and sighs. "Oh, well, I guess it's time to go back home." He goes outside and surveys the parking lot. "Uh, oh," he says worriedly, repressing a frown. "Uh, Joe... I can't find my car."
"It's a blue old Saab," said Fritz, trying to remain calm. "As to where I left it, uh...." he started looking around. "I don't really remember." He strikes himself in the head and then says in a whiny tone "me and my memory!"
Across the path of where you are you see a slime like shine on the ground trailing what seems to be a snail... you consider what this means based on your small but ever present superstitions.
