It seems like every religion is now making this a headlines issue with some of the congregation battling either for or against it. Personally, once you choose to represent something at any level then you must live up to what is expected of you or stand down - pure and simple.

Much agreed! I don't understand the idea of placing yourself on one side of the fence, then changing your views because its not popular. If your stand is based on what others agree or disagree with, then sshouldn'tyou find that out before making a public stand? I have very strong feelings on the issue, and they don't change because of others opinions. To add to that, in fighting between congregations and between different sects of a religion only accomplishes alienating outsiders that may have joined you or converted to your beliefs. No one wants to be put in the middle of an argument of such magnitude, especially one who is seeking to find God. This really helps no one and seems to take away from the true calling of the church.
