San Juan Mom Delivers Quadruplet Girls

I just checked the Express and saw this news. The babies are fine and the parents have three children besides the new additions, both of them are also unemployed. The Minister of Health found a job for the father, starting January 2007.

QUOTE
Quadruplets born to 27-year-old Lystra Aberdeen and 33-year old Anderson Edwards at the Port of Spain General Hospital on Tuesday night, have been described as "blessings".

However, while the excited and happy parents can hardly wait to take home the newest additions to their family, they are extremely worried, as the family's finances will be severely challenged, particularly as both parents are currently unemployed.

Residents of Bourg Mulatresse in San Juan, Aberdeen and Edwards were already parents to 10-year-old Akeema, eight-year-old Akeem and four-year old AJ before Tuesday's miraculous delivery.

Smiling weakly from her hospital bed at the Maternity Ward of the PoSGH yesterday, Aberdeen said they had not yet chosen names for the premature babies, who were delivered at 31 weeks.

Authorities said the first two babies weighed 1.23 and 1.32 kgs respectively, while the last two babies each weighed 1.20 kgs.

Delivered via emergency Caesarean section on Tuesday, the babies were born at 11.34 p.m., 11.35 p.m. and seconds apart at 11.36 p.m. They are currently being kept in incubators at the Neo-natal Unit.

The mother also spoke to the Minister about the poor attention and treatment from nurses (we all know they treat people like dogs).

I heard this over the news this morning. The most they will get is a visit from the Minister of Health and diapers / food for the first six months, but for their sake I hope there are some NGOs that are going to come to their rescue.
