Comments: Just asking thoughts on if a CMS (Content management system) is better or if you feel just relying on your own know how is better? This is for a small site.

If you know what you are doing then never use a CMS. As good as a CMS might be it is still limited by the program behind its use. If you are not savvy enough to code your own and the site is just a few pages then use some HTML editor that has a WYSIWYG editor.

If you can afford it then go with do it yourself. When I say "Afford it" I'm talking about the time involved because a lot of the things you have to think about will be already created by a CMS but the end result might not be as expected.

Or if you know how... Create your own CMS! That's what I do for most of my sites using PHP so as I create new pages they are easy to manage.
