Remember this one?

Someone said 12, that's the wrong answer.
It's 10.  Think about it.  After the 8th jump, he's at the 8th foot. So on the 9th jump, he starts out at the 8th foot and jumps up to the 11th foot, then falls back to the 9th foot.  On the 10th jump, he makes it all the way up to the 12th foot.  At that point he's out of the well.  If he falls back 2 feet then, then he's back in the well.  But that doesn't change the fact that he was already out of the well after 10 jumps.

Modification:  Unless you take the point of view that he must make it to the 13th foot before he's out of the 12 foot deep well.  Then it would take 11 jumps.
