The earth is discussed in Bible quite a lot. I've been pondering the message of a particular hymn lately, "Joy to the World."
QUOTE |
First, it says "Let earth receive her king." And then this second verse in particular: "Rejoice! Rejoice when Jesus reigns And Saints their songs employ While fields and floods, Rocks, hills, and plains Repeat the sounding joy." |
QUOTE |
21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD. |
QUOTE |
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. |
QUOTE |
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. |
I believe that the Bible makes it very clear that the very existence of God is proven in the being of the Earth. The earth is portrayed as a living thing. It was created as such in order to sustain all of the needs of all the created beings of the planet, including us.
The earth does its best to adapt to changes made on its surface in order to continue to provide the life support it was created to do. The fact that we can deplete and destroy the earth and it still adapts and continues on suggests the existence of an intelligent creator. Logic servers to say that the earth in all its entirety could not have simply happened into existence.
QUOTE |
Genesis 1:27"And God proceeded to create the man in his image, in God's image he created him; male and female he created them. 28 Further, God blessed them and God said to them: "Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth." |
QUOTE |
Isaiah 55:11" so my word that goes forth from my mouth will prove to be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it" |
QUOTE |
"Psalms 37: 10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." |
QUOTE |
Rev 21: 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." 5 And the One seated on the throne said: "Look! I am making all things new." Also, he says: "Write, because these words are faithful and true." |
