Comments: I would fire several of our largest nukes, set to detonate progressively using the concussion from each explosion to alter the path of the asteroid. A direct impact to the asteroid would only fracture it causing multiple strikes to our planet. If that didn't work, well I'd just hug my kids and family and let the good lord know I'm coming sooner than he planned!

Earth hit Asteroid

The worse thing is that we would be able to spot an asteroid large enough to make it through the atmosphere years before it actually reached our planet. So we would know we are doomed but unable to avoid such a fate. Not a desirable situation by any means. The spreading panic would maybe cause destruction far before the actual impact...

The Atlas: The Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert is supposed to give us at least a week's notice depending on the size but what really can be done in a week unless you have a plan already in place.

Page 4 Earth hit Asteroid

I've seen different articles saying there has been many close calls. We can't do a thing to stop it, unless we have much better technology, maybe.
