Hamsa Hand
Do you feel there is any power or mystical energy in 'The Hamsa Hand'?
The hamesh hand or hamsa hand is a symbol of blessing and protection within the Jewish tradition. There are also hamsa hands in other religions.
The Hamsa Hand (Hover)
I believe that the Hamsa hand predates and even was what led to the creation of the Roman Catholic Powerful Hand. The website listed shows the hand facing up, but I thought that it was always facing down in places I had seen it. I had to look up a couple wesites to find more information, but it is all very interesting.

An alternative Islamic name for this charm is the Hand of Fatima, in reference to the daughter of Mohammed. An alternative Jewish name for it is the Hand of Miriam, in reference to the sister of Moses and Aaron. |
