Sports Suspension Causes Suicicde
Equestrian coach dies by suicide after ban for misconduct, one of at least two suicides in 2019 that some blame on SafeSport investigations. Robert Gage, a three-time World Cup Grand Prix rider, was banned in February by SafeSport, which investigates allegations of abuse and misconduct in Olympic sports. Figure skater John Coughlin, a two-time U.S. Pairs champion, hanged himself Jan. 18, one day after receiving an interim suspension from SafeSport. Source 6w.
