No Other Truth Out There? - Page 2

I appreciated LDS-Forever's comment.

I would like to add that if we take our having the "fullness of the gospel" too much to heart we risk missing the wisdom and experience of those who may not have our beliefs, but have just as much to add to our quality of spiritual life. To miss this opportunity because of a conscious decision that no other faiths or philosophies can add to the understanding we enjoy, smacks of arrogance and a closed mind. We cannot afford to be condescending.

The philosophies of men, though often deprecated from the LDS podium, do have value and can add much to our lives.

There Truth No

I study the basic principles and common doctrine of the church. I delve into deeper subjects wich I cant help. With personal experience that life has given me through my own stupidity I can certainly testify that the scriptures and the modern day prophecies are true. I am not educated, but delve into subjects on deep doctrine and other religions as a hobby now. It seems to replace some of the problems I have developed over the years from sin. I am starting to understand things a lot better and I don't feel so stupid. I had the thought 2 months ago that all of the religions I have studied have keys of knowledge. They dwell on certain ones that a lot of times have very little meaning to salvation. I think that our church has the basic foundation and a lot, or all of the keys of knowledge. I don't think we have access to all of them. But some of the things that you guys talk about go along the lines of other religious beliefs. Some of the theories leaders of the church have had are not supported by the church as doctrine. But they certainly would be acceptable to other religions. In fact the main component missing from other religions is the belief in christ as their savior. Some of my thoughts and theories are acceptable to new age religion. Even the satanic religion has truth.

I guess it is o-kay to say this since Killian isn't my real name and no one knows what I look like. When I was 12 my pat blessing said that I was sent to build up gods kingdom and bless his children and have authority. And leadership and more. Now I feel incompetent, disappointing, and incapable. I didn't believe any of it at first, but the more I read the closer I get to the possibility that I can do some of those things. I am having some difficulty organizing my thoughts. Not to get off subject to much but I think I kinda did. The more I read the more stressed out I get. Let's face it everyone on earth is a part of some religion, or belief structure.
my questions are these.

Is it wrong to use some of the church's deeper doctrine as an inlet to people of other religious beliefs? Not more than they Know just what they know.
Do you know of any stories where entire groups were re-doctrinated and it was successful?
Are there any set rules and regulations on what you can or cant do when converting or spreading faith?
Where is all this information?
Who should I talk to besides the bishop?
Does the church have paid clergymen like the catholics?
Does the church have educational and training programs if they have clergymen?
What is the church's real stance on other religions?

It isn't about money. I make good money right now. In fact I know I could be a rich man in 7 or 8 years. I am just starting to feel a little miss placed. I am not dead set against a mission I just don't remember seeing a missionary that was 26 years old.

Killan, you brought up a lot here, so I have some comments, suggestions and questions for you. I will take them piece by piece.

I am not sure what you mean by that, but all the topics we cover here is concerning LDS Doctrine (speaking about his LDS Category in particular). Most times we decipher what is merely the opinion of a leader and what is in fact a commandment or set policy of the Church.

QUOTE

So there are no misunderstandings, what do you mean by that?

QUOTE

When you do this you need to use the offtopic tags. To learn how to use these tags please see the constructive post thread or the FAQ board.

I do not think that has a yes or no answer, it really depends, however as a guide... the Lord said we must first being with milk before meat.

QUOTE

Yes, Heber C. Kimball converted a whole Church in England including the preacher. J. Golden Kimball and his companion converted a mob sent to stop them from baptizing, they even baptized the mob leader (Southern States)

Build on common beliefs, speak the truth and if I were you, give the referral to the missionaries and let them handle the rest.

Okay we are going offtopic now. I think if you do a search you will find the answers to these questions. However, just a quickie... No paid clergymen, just steepen at higher levels for maintainance, there are training meanings to educate leaders, we are to respect others beliefs and they do contain some truth - these are answered in more detail in other threads - do a search.

Alright a mis-understanding on my part. Ex: Eric skousens. Sounds a lot like hindu to me. Ex: masons have a lot of similarties to mormons on cerimonies and the temple. ect.

The satanic belief is a lot like the mormon belief on the pre-existence. It is a little twisted. There followers strongly believe that you shouldn't lie. Which is kinda funny because most of the religion is based on lies and deception. No mis-understanding there I am sure. I don't know much more. It isn't a very interesting religion to me.

Probably a good Idea. For now.

I wonder if during the mullinium there will be more of a universal religion. I heard that somewhere. That would make more since to me.

I think maybe you should refresh your knowledge about the basics first before you climb into the jump seat of these topics. This has nothing to do with your intelligence, or level of spirituality, it is just a matter of catching up. I recommend you join our Lite version forum and post all the basic questions you wish to ask in the Religious section and we can address them all until you feel okra to tackle here.

keep in mind that although there may be similarities, that Satan uses 1,000 truths to present one lie that will lead you astray, after all, even the Devil believes there is a God.

Okay, this sounds offtopic again. The universal religion will be His Kingdom on the Earth, and the prequel to this is His Church on the Earth, the same one you and I belong to. wink.gif

Offtopic but,
I corrected your quote tags. You need to open quote and then close quote for each bit of text you quote or it won't work properly. Please look over the FAQ board where there is a thread that teaches this in detail. Thanks.
