The Law of Tithing and Fasting

Members may place lesson ideas here. Consider the number of times the Lord has ensured that the Malachi scriptures were preserved in one case through his own voice to the Nephites so that the Law would not be forgotten. You may also want to consider how difficult people find to pay tithing these days let along obey the higher law of Consecration.

Covenants and Doctrine

Fasting cannot be measured by the Church leadership save maybe for the results when it is a unified effort, but not with tithing - it is cut and dry - it is either you pay or you do not. This (tithing) always shows me the Lord's need for his people to carry out His work rather than He carrying it out for them. I believe many members feel that the Lord will just 'see to things' regardless of the part they play - no matter how small it is, but this is so untrue based on the scriptures and in Church Administration since tithing in a certain area affects wether a chapel or temple will be built in your area as well as the kind and type. It also determines wether Stakes will be formed and the blessings that come with it. A good way to be enthused about paying tithing is not to look only at the whole, but the affect it will have on your locale - not to mention the spiritual rewards of course.
