In what way is this wrong? Many will say that it is the same as action taken against Pornography were groups are supported to fight against it? If your answer is based on what we Discussed in the Mature LDS Board then I understand, if it is more based on Civil action and temporal laws then I want to know more about how you think this return fire will take place.

The Church is actively involved in the persecutions of the fundamentalists (all forms, not just the FLDS). The Church has given money to an anti-polygamist group that is as horrible in its way as any anti-Mormon group.

Where have you heard this, do you have a link proving this point? I would like to know.

I read several mailing lists of fundamentalists and polygamists. I have family who are involved in those groups.

On these mailing lists, they have talked extensively about this, and have provided documentation for it. However, I don't have ready access to that documentation.

Specifically, it is charged that the Church has given money and other support to a group called "Tapestry Against Polygamy". What is interesting is that this group is quite anti-Mormon, as well, claiming that the modern Church has not done enough to condemn the polygamy of the 19th Century. This group is quite vile in their accusations and methods, at least in my opinion.

We already have info on Tapestry Against Polygamy in the Mature LDS Board too, I think we need to keep this Thread simple.

Nighthawk, they say many things about the Church. I personally do not think the Church gave money to any anti-polygamist group, I am not saying this is not possible...I just do not think they did. I read several FLDS blogs and forums and I am surprised by the kind of accusations they have against our Church. I am not going to enter to debate whether those accusations may be right or wrong but I think that if the Church believes (as it does now) that we are no longer connected to plural marriage and that the media's coverage of these type of Churches affects negatively the image that the Church has, then it is within its right to say that the Church is not affiliated in any way with those things.

Going back to the topic, I also believe the persecution will come within the walls of the Church and not from outside. I see a great division within the members of our Church, and a lot of philosophies of men mingled with scripture. I see a lot of false brothers and sisters and a lot of persecution within our branches and wards. Therefore, I think the persecution will come within our own membership making the statement that even the "elected will fall" more understandable since we may end up having lots of leaders who may lead the people away.

The persecution that Joseph Smith and the Early Saints received were more physical then mental. I'm not saying that it did thing to the mind being raped, having your family murdered, and property stolen.

The persecution that I imagine we will go through will be more mental then physical. A person can heal easier from physical attacks faster then they can from mental attacks.
