Becoming Gods - Mormon View

What exactly means to become Gods? Will we be just like our Heavenly Father (Same powers, etc)? Or a lesser degree? When we reach godhood, will a couple (Husband and wife) be in charge of a planet?

Well I can't answer that specifically because there will be a lot of speculation however we know we will become like unto Heavenly Father, of course we won't be him and I suppose we will always respect him and love him for who He is.

We are taught these things in the temple. It's hard to answer without talking about the things we learn during the endowment sessions. The answers are there.

Well, the general answers are really easy to get to. The difficulties always lie in the details. Your answers are all to be found in the Journal of Discourses and the personal journals of the prophets. In fact they go into far more details (Regarding your specific questions) than the endowment session will. There is everlasting progression as we go from exaltation to exaltation. We are on the same path as all the other gods have gone on before us. We just follow your God and Father in Heaven. We will go through this life and hopefully make all the covenants necessary and follow and live them. After we step out of this live we continue to learn and at some point in the eternities we will receive the keys to the creation of spiritual offspring. Following that we learn more until we obtain the keys of creating an earth and then we start the process all over again as we are taught in the temple. We are then going to create physical bodies for our spiritual children. And the cycle continues in an ever eternal round. All the gods have done the very same plan. Every earth had an Adam and an Eve (I believe that it is more of a priesthood office then a real name, not any different then the name God.) We will receive everything that our Heavenly Father has, but we will never be on an equal footing as He has progressed far ahead of us. I really cannot go into the details, but read the JD and pray about it and you will know your answers.

Become like God, first one has to quality, or make it; you can follow the Church Guidelines, the Commandments, go to the temple and etc, and still not qualify.

Those that make it, have to develop a personal relationship with God and Christ; You have to go beyond the Gift of the Holy Ghost and actually obtain it; with your Baptism of Fire, where you obtain the Companionship of the Holy Ghost, you don't have it before then, you only have access to the power of the Holy Spirit to help you reach your Baptism of Fire.

When you achieve your Baptism of Fire, and the Companionship of the Holy Ghost; your Spirit becomes holy, as the Spirit of God and Christ set up permeant abode with you; your Spirit become a Holy Ghost; his prepares you through the sanctification process, to prepare you to see Christ personally face to face, and taken into his presence; Christ prepares you to later be introduced into God the Father presence, by him, when you have advanced enough.

There will be very few, that make it, that has always been the scenario each time there is a harvest, shall we say. MANY ARE CALL, BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN; BECAUSE MOST HAVE THEIR MINDS SET UPON THE WORLD AND LACK THE FAITH.

God the Father will always be that to us, but those who become Gods, will be under Christ; we will be his. If we progress over time, we can be like Christ and eventually like God, but they will always be higher then us; as we advance upward, so do they. We must do everything they have done, to become like them.
