Can A Member Of The Church Be Communist? - Page 3

Question # 6 in the Temple Recommend

QUOTE

Do you affiliate with any group or individual whose teachings or practices are contrary to or oppose those accepted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or do you sympathize with the precepts of any such group or individual?

What specific groups or individuals is this talking about?
There must be some context to this question. I have assumed that one of these groups is the communist party, because of previous teachings of at least two prophets (Benson and McKay).

Are there others(such as apostate church groups or groups like the Nazi party of America)?

Question # 6 in the Temple Recommend...

Only Members who desire a Temple Recommend are subject to this interview question, but I think McKay is saying it does not stop them from being a Member because they are not asked this before baptism.

Can A Member Of The Church Be Communist? Studies Doctrine Mormon

Exactly, this question applies only to those who wish to enter the Temple. Technically speaking, an investigator with Communist, Nazi or any other "controversial" ideal can perfectly join the Church since abandoning these ideas are not a requirement for baptism.

Thank You for the clarification.
I had always wondered about that.

But can a Nazi really be a member of the Church?

Communist Church The Member Can

By principle a person with interest in Nazism should not even want to be a Member of the Church, but in this day and age people join organizations for more than belief. Sometimes it may b infiltration or whatever, we Discuss that more in depth in the Mature LDS Board.

Can A Member Of The Church Be Communist?

QUOTE
Some people will have less and others more, but that is the conditions of Mortal life as set up by God. Christ's Kingdom is also set up on the premise that we will not all receive the same reward.

I think that this is an assumption.  I am not sure where you get this conclusion. I thought that in Zion all man will have all things in common.  How will someone have more then another? I do not think that Jesus is into giving people more then the other.  The way this is stated is to say that reward will not be equal and will leave one for wanting more. Do you think that another will get more then another and that other will be left wanting more?

Only Satan want to force everyone to have equality in all things.
By this idea then is not the united order Satan's plan?

QUOTE

You have to remember that Marx's views of Communism were never achieved.
The road to trying to get there have left at least 60 million* dead.

You are right I feel that Communism never achieved what it set out to do.  Neither did the united order, and it was voluntary to some extent. But remember how many people died in the name of capitalism?  How many dies in Afghanistan in the 80's, how many died in Iraq under Saddam who was put into power by Pres George H. Bush to defend capitalism from USSR?  How many homeless  and poor die a year due to no medical insurance, due to capitalism ideas of free market? How many 3rd would nations are kept in poverty to protect our economic interests.  This in my opinion is the anti-Christ in revelation. I am not defending communism but I just think that we condemn  communism to the extent that we do not look at the dirt and blood that is on our hands. Trust me I am glad that I live in a capitalist society then communism, and that is why I am critical of our system.

All Communism did was take freedom from everyone so that all were equally miserable, a condition that is in agreement with Satan's plan completely.

We must not forget the freedoms that capitalism takes away from others. Slavery a product of Capitalism. Also leaving the have-nots with less chances for education, medical care, and other freedoms that they do not enjoy, such as good attorney representation in court to name a few. It is not coincidence that most of the criminals on death row are poor, and back. While rich whites who are committed on the same crime and convicted do not get the death penalty, due to the better attorney and money to keep them off of death row. Read Sister Helen Prejohn's "Dead man walking." We must not forget the rights, and inequality that capitalism hides from us and glorifies. With capitalism there must be victims in order for it to work.
