Ruth Wright Faust

After six months of the death of her husband, she passed away at the age of 86.

QUOTE
Ruth Wright Faust, the widow of President James E. Faust of the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died Sunday morning. She was 86.

Her passing comes six months after her husband's Aug. 10 death, at the age of 87. Ruth Faust was surrounded by family members when she passed away in her Salt Lake City apartment, LDS Church officials said. Her death was attributed to age.

The Fausts have five children. President Faust served from 1995 until his death as second counselor in the First Presidency to LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley. "She was bright, well educated, wise, down to earth, warm and engaging." said Bruce Olsen, managing director of the church's Public Affairs Department, in a prepared statement.

He said President Faust was devoted to his wife. "If you were in President Faust's office and she called," Olsen said, "he not only always took the call, but also made it clear that she was his No. 1 priority."
Ruth Faust was born April 11, 1921 to Elmer and Elizabeth Hamilton Wright, and was the youngest of four daughters in a family of eight. She grew up on a farm in the Mill Creek area and graduated from Granite High School. She attended the University of Utah. Ruth and James Faust, whom she met in high school, married in April 1943.
