Not just to do it, but to do it well - there is a difference

Enduring To The End

"The test a loving God has set before us is not to see if we can endure difficulty. It is to see if we can endure it well. We pass the test by showing that we remembered Him and the commandments He gave us. And to endure well is to keep those commandments whatever the opposition, whatever the temptation, and whatever the tumult around us. We have that clear understanding because the restored gospel makes the plan of happiness so plain."

(Henry B. Eyring, "In the Strength of the Lord," Ensign, May 2004, 17)

End To Enduring

My second mission president always said, "ENJOY to the end, don't just endure." Truly, if we are not generally enjoying the journey to exaltation, something is wrong, either with our efforts or with our attitude about them or ourselves.

Enduring To The End Studies Doctrine Mormon

I have a question about this principle. There are many scriptures and prophets that have told us to endure to the end and that those who do shall be saved at the last day, and blessed is he who endures all things. I am trying to figure out if enduring to the end means to suffer or tolerate certain things by bearing burdens and outlasting or continuing in struggles and challenges, or if enduring means to overcome certain things, surmounting them, not merely living with them. These are the two definitions that I found in the online Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

Main Entry: en·dure
1 : to undergo (as a hardship) especially without giving in : SUFFER
2 : to regard with acceptance or tolerance
intransitive senses
1 : to continue in the same state : LAST
2 : to remain firm under suffering or misfortune without yielding
synonym see BEAR, CONTINUE

Main Entry: over·come
1 : to get the better of : SURMOUNT
2 : OVERWHELM
intransitive senses : to gain the superiority : WIN
synonym see CONQUER

Does endurance mean that we have to completely overcome our personal trials, conquering our feelings in order to say that we 'endured it well', or does it simply mean to to patiently undergo challenges and bearing with the outcomes with as much of a positive attitude and outlook as we can? (as a hardship) I am interested in thoughts going either direction on this.

End To Enduring

"The Lord has promised us that as we 'search diligently, pray always, and be believing, . . . all things [will] work together for [our] good' (D&C 90:24). That doesn't mean that everything will be perfect or that we will not have any trials, but it does mean that
everything will be okay if we just 'hang in there.' Ours is the opportunity to 'be . . . an example of the believers' (1 Timothy 4:12), and the Savior has promised that 'all things are possible to himthat believeth' (Mark 9:23). So believe in yourselves. Believe that you are never alone. Believe that you will always be guided."

End To Enduring

"We are all subject to sorrow and suffering, to disease and death. Through times good and bad, the Lord expects each of us to endure to the end. As we all go forward together in His sacred work, the Brethren realize the importance of your thoughtful consideration, so lovingly offered and gratefully received. We love you and pray for you, as you pray for us."

(Russell M. Nelson, "Jesus Christ--the Master Healer," Ensign, Nov. 2005, 85)

Enduring To The End

"[Today's children] will see many events transpire in the course of their lifetime. Some of these shall tax their courage and extend their faith. But if they seek prayerfully for help and guidance, they shall be given power over adverse things. Such trials shall not be permitted to stand in the way of their progress, but instead shall act as stepping-stones to greater knowledge."
Ref. Boyd K. Packer, "Do not Fear," Ensign, May 2004, 77
