What, Or Who Is God?

I've recently watched "The Story of God with Morgan Freeman," Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman explores the meaning of life, God, and many big questions in between in an effort to understand how religion has evolved and shaped society.
But what really impressed me was his candid and unbiased appraisal of other religious belief systems during his investigations. My interest, is in discovering what or who is God for you as a person?

So the title, for this thread is What is God?. I'm not interested in any arguments about any religion here. Or trying to prove which religion is better than another. Think of this thread, as a place of self discovery, and a place to share your religious beliefs with others.

Neither, am I interested in promoting one religion over another in this thread. Or vain argument with Atheists over Gods existence here. Constructive, frank discussion on what or who is God for you is allowed.
It goes without saying, that I for one believe in a God, whom happened to create the universe in which we all live. I also believe that this God also intervenes, in the affairs with creation.

God Who What

This is a interesting question and one that you should not take without good thought. I have been raised in Christianity but I did not stop thinking that this is the one and only answer. Looking at all religions I have seen many many of the same things. Is Allah and the christian god the same person? I think so.
God is one being neither male or female. God is above up in terms of science like we are above the single cell organism. The concept that we have of him as omni present and omni powerful is something one really needs to understand. I do believe there is a greater being that is watching over us for us to be good and kind to others and treat each other with care. I can not prove that god does not exist therefore God is there.

I also believe that God, is omnipresent he is also the creator, and all powerful as you suggest. I think he also intervenes in this world. Likewise, I've also been brought up as a Christian.
It was so refreshing, and fascinating to watch Morgan Freeman's candid discussion of God, different religions, and how we all view God.

What I found quite intriguing, is that in ancient Egypt they discovered hieroglyphics where there was a picture of scales, a literal heart on one side and a weight on the other.

Thousands of years before Judaism, and Christianity, there we have a picture depicting weighing up a persons heart, to see if he is right to get to heaven, through the Egyptian God of course.
Christian's are aware of this doctrine of judgement, where after death, they meet their maker, then God judges, if your able to go to heaven, or hell beneath.

Morgans, non-judgmental approach to each religion was good. I believe, each religion is unique in their own way. But, there seemed a common thread to better themselves, and to do good to others. Treating other people, as you yourself would like to be treated.
