Better Word For Mormon Apostate

Comments: I've been deliberating how Mormons like to label you when you're not in their trend of things. When you don't attend for a little while you're inactive. When you don't come for a long time you're a lost sheep. When you decide Mormonism isn't for you then you're an apostate sinner that can only hope for a terrestrial glory at best. Why all these labels. I prefer being called a free thinker.
I think it's human nature. We love to classify and place people in little boxes. I believe that because the LDS Church believes to be the only true Church on the face of the Earth, the members sometimes over do it a bit with the labels. However, the word apostate has a negative connotation mostly within the LDS culture because the word in itself just mean "A person who renounces a religious or political belief or principle."
